According to a new market research, Samsung was the faster growing brand in Japan’s mobile industry in the first half of 2025.
Samsung is making big moves in Japanโs smartphone market this year. According to a new report from Counterpoint Research, while Samsung didnโt top the charts in Q2 2025, it was actually the fastest-growing mobile brand in the country โ thanks to the huge success of the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy A25.
Globally, Samsung led the market in Q2 2025, shipping more smartphones than any other brand. But in Japan, Apple still dominates with a 49% market share, followed by Google at 11%. Samsung came in third with 10%, but what stands out is its 60% year-over-year growth โ up from just 7% in Q1 2025.
Analysts credit this growth to strong carrier partnerships, aggressive TV and digital marketing, and the popularity of the Galaxy S25 series.
Looking ahead, things could get even better. Samsung recently launched its new foldable flagships, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, which are already getting a warm reception in Japan. Given how quickly Japanese consumers embrace cutting-edge tech, Samsungโs market share is expected to climb even higher by the end of 2025.
