One of Xiaomiโ€™s recent ads compared the Xiaomi 15 Ultra with Appleโ€™s iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The Xiaomi 16 series is also expected to launch in China soon, and this ad comes just days ahead of Appleโ€™s โ€˜Awe Droppingโ€™ launch event.

According to a recent report, Apple and Samsung have sent cease-and-desist notices to Xiaomi, objecting to its latest ad campaign. The two tech giants, based in the US and South Korea respectively, have reportedly accused Xiaomi of running ads that could harm their brand reputation.

Xiaomi had previously published full front-page ads in several Indian newspapers promoting the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, where it directly compared the flagship device to Appleโ€™s iPhone 16 Pro Max.

As per The Economic Times, both Apple and Samsung raised objections to certain ad creatives. In one of the ads, Xiaomi referred to the iPhone 16 Pro Maxโ€™s camera as โ€œ๐˜ค๐˜ถ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ,โ€ along with the tagline, โ€œMaybe it’s time to see through the right lens.โ€

In another ad, Xiaomi reportedly wrote,

These ads didnโ€™t sit well with Apple and Samsung, prompting them to send legal notices to Xiaomi. The report also suggests that Xiaomi has launched similar ad campaigns targeting Samsung, which likely led to the South Korean companyโ€™s response as well.

According to the report, both companies have alleged that Xiaomiโ€™s ad campaigns contain disparaging content and have demanded that they be stopped immediately. Apple and Samsung believe the tone of these ads goes beyond healthy competition, portraying their products in a negative light. Given that both brands hold a significant share of the premium smartphone market, theyโ€™re taking these campaigns quite seriously.

Meanwhile, all three tech giants are gearing up to launch their latest devices globally, including in India. Apple has already scheduled its โ€˜Awe Droppingโ€™ launch event for September 9, where itโ€™s expected to unveil the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the all-new iPhone 17 Air.
